Best New and Innovative RVs for 2015

We’ve been scouring the California RV Show for the past week (yea, it’s a very long show) looking for the new, the noteworthy and the “Best Of” the 2015 RV selection.  Every year it seems the RV industry takes a step towards the 21st century and this year is no different; with transitional spaces, cabinets that cleverly turn into desks, skylights that open up to the stars and even high end luxury without looking like Vegas threw up (don’t worry, they have that too)!

We’ve handpicked 11 of the Best 2015 RVs that have loads of cool features and amenities worth checking out, but to keep the video from becoming a half hour snorefest we’ve selected only a few of our favorite items from each rig.  If you’re looking to upgrade, or buy your first RV, this is a good place to start your search.

Here’s the list of the RV’s we featured in the video, keep in mind that many of these are still in “pre-launch” or “prototype” mode so there might not be much info out there:

  1. Lance 1172 Truck Camper
  2. Cricket Trailer
  3. Genesis Classic Trailer
  4. Airstream Grand Tour EXT
  5. Fleetwood Flair 26D
  6. Sportsmobile 4WD
  7. Monaco Diplomat 43DFT
  8. Holiday Rambler Vacationer 36DBT
  9. American Coach Revolution 39A
  10. Leisure Travel Unity
  11. Heartland Road Warrior RV 420

So what do you think? Any favorites in the bunch? Did we miss something cool you’ve seen for the 2015 model year? Personally I think the skylight and the dimmable LEDs should be on every new RV!

There are plenty of other reasons to visit the show this weekend: Come hang with us at the entrance and talk shop, check out an inflatable SUP from Fisher that’s a perfect for the RV, walk through an Off-The-Grid park model, see the “Vegas Throw-UP” RV I mentioned above and snap a photo with that other famous guy Bret Michaels!  Check the CA RV show website for details.  Seriously if you’re in CA, NV or AZ come by and say hi, here’s our schedule for this weekend:

  • Friday 10:00 – 1:00 at the entrance & 4:30 in the Seminar Tent
  • Saturday 10:00 – 1:00 at the entrance & 3:30 in the Seminar Tent
  • Sunday 10:00 – 1:00 at the entrance & 3:30 in the Seminar Tent

Famous for my "how-not-to" videos, and typically the man behind the camera, sometimes I’m forced to be here in the “spotlight”. When you see my face you’re probably reading something more technical than adventurous, but either way I do my best to tell it like it is and infuse my opinions into the commentary…after all this is a blog and not MSN.

do you guys have any plans to start a family?/

  • Didn’t you guys downsize recently? I think I saw somewhere an explanation why but can’t find it. We have a Leisure Van TB model on order. Won’t get it until May 2016. We are complete newbies and are enjoying all your helpful info.i want to use my rv as a mobile office/clinic I’ve been in practice for 16 years at a “stationary” office and am ready to try something new! Any good advice? Thanks

    Hi,
I have become obsessed with your blog lately. I just love the two of you. Love your videos, all the content and of course your cats. I am trying to persuade my husband to sell everything, buy an RV and go. I have just a few questions. I am sure it is in your content somewhere but I can’t seem to locate it. How long do you usually take out a loan for your RV? I saw in your blog that you lease? Is that a better way to go? And lastly best tips for people who have never Rv’ed before but really want to give it a go?
    Thank You so much!

Mostly this article was about luxury. I would like to see more ‘green’ innovations. More multi-functionality. I recently saw a sink directly attached to a toilet. Wash hands and flush with same water. That is innovative.

    • We would like to see more ‘green’ innovations too. This was the best there was at the show…which is more of the same we know.

What do you think about Winnebago’s?

    reply
  • So glad you two featured so many smaller RVs. We’re downsizing next time! 🙂

Jason, Being a past Vesta owner, why do you think the Vesta was a failure? What was the issue that pushed you guys to say goodbye to Wendy?

We were looking at the Thor Super C diesel, but after discarding our fears of maneuvering a class A by test driving, we are going for the Fleetwood Excursion, like yours.
Not crazy about the black interior, but it will grow on us.

This will be our first RV, and last, as retirement transforms us into full timers.
We both ride, still downsizing, sold wife’s 2 Harley’s, down to my bagger Roadking.
Will never tow . . hydralift on rear for Hawg.

We follow you constantly for the great info . . . please continue and see you out there . . .

My manual gives instructions on how to tow a smart car, but my dealer and smart USA tells me not to. Still waiting to hear WHY?

My wife and I stumbled upon the Renegade Super C searching for bunk models. From what we’ve seen, it looks like one of the best built RV’s available, but very expensive. I’m curious if you’ve seen one. If so, what’s your opinion of Renegade?

    reply
    • Kathy

We have a renegade and love the quality and pulling power. Look for used if the price is too much.

My fav is the Unity. It looks like the modern amenities of an Airstream in a B-Class. I really like the layout and the ingenious bed config. Actually like the Lance as well. Very roomy for its class and the versatility of that class is fantastic. Thanks for the vid.

Question for you; the more i explore RV’ing, the more i find on inevitable water leaks and that no matttee the make or $, they all leak. Comparisons have been made to a continuous earthquake on a home and so therefore, leaks will happen. In your years of travel, experience and socializing, do you have feedback.

I like the sound of an Airstream but ive been through multiple water damage events in my homes over time and im not about to invest in a known water leaking issue. Thanks

Thanks for the report from California. Why the preference of class A over a class C?

The Leisure Travel Unity looked great, especially the Murphy Bed. Does it have a decent bathroom with shower?

no smaller (25 – 30″) Class A diesels? that’s too bad, but thanks for the previous write ups!

      • I’m curious about the problems with the Allegro Breeze? That was one we really had our eye on.

  • Funny… My brother-in-law started transporting RVs a few months back and, just a couple of days ago, he told me about a toy-hauler he had transported that had two decks!

We are gearing up to go full time with our three boys and two cats. Because there are five of us we are looking for a class C diesel…did y’all see any noteworthy class Cs with bunks and an overhead bed?

    reply
    • Linda

Jennie. We have been looking at Jayco Super C (diesel). They have a Seneca model 37FS with bunks, overhead queen and a king bedroom.

Linda, We’ll definitely check those out! Thank you!

        reply
      • Jennie

We would go for an A, but we really want all three boys to have their own space. A space I don’t have to make up each time. I know there are the drop down beds in the A’s but they don’t seem as sturdy.

  • As always a good video. I’m doing research in towing our just purchased tow car
1 what is the brand of your dual receiver and the tow bar?
    2. There are conflicting issues re: towing of a smart car. Smart USA says no but my manual gives detailed steps for flat towing.

    Keep up the good work
