Coachella: The People, The Music, The Festival!
The Coachella Valley is slowly and surely filling up with bodies yearning for live music.
The first weekend of Coachella is right around the corner and even though we are on our East Coast trek this year, I can’t help but be a little bit sentimental about our adventures there last year.
It was our first festival of the year and it was hot, packed and a little dusty at times, but the music line up was worth it and then some. We did love this festival and will definitely go back again someday.
As food for thought for some of you potential Coachella goers out there, this was the only festival we could ever envision paying the upgraded price for VIP. The safari tents, golf cart escorts and the front row access to every show are extremely tempting. That’s if you have lots of extra money burning a hole in your pocket. Either way, if you are going this year, do a little dance for us!
The camping at Coachella isn’t really RV friendly. We walked the campground and didn’t see RV’s of any sort (plenty of van sized stuff though). We never really got an answer as to if RV’s are allowed. So, we camped out at the Salton Sea State Park. It is only a 30 min drive to Coachella and because it’s away from the city, there’s no traffic and it’s easier to get to the parking lots. It’s quiet and there are a few fellow festival goers there too! That’s where we met the 3 Swedish Guys.

If you’re going to this festival this year or next, Indian Wells RV Park is awesome place to stay, beautiful site, friendly, nice pool and hot tub area, etc. Get a site on the gravel lots though because they turn the sprinklers on at night and so you can’t leave your stuff out or it gets soaked.
We stayed there in 2012 during Coachella and because we have memberships with RPI and Coast to Coast, got a really good rate and it’s minutes from the Festival Grounds, you could take youre little Smart car there.
