Exploring Zion National Park
Every time we approach a national park I have the same overwhelming feeling of being very small, amazed and extremely fortunate. National Parks are America’s greatest asset and the fact that we are allowed to explore them is a gift.
Zion National Park is no exception. The rugged and yet perfectly smooth sculpted landscape is sometimes hard to comprehend. Some of the slot canyons are so perfectly designed they look more like Gaudi architecture than water and time.
In 36hrs we explored as much of the park as possible and found ourselves completely exhausted but thrilled with the experiences. Zion has some of the most unique hikes we have been on yet. Add in water elements, wildlife and stunning views and it becomes one great adventure.

Hello! I am looking to plan a trip to the park soon! What time of year did you visit? Any suggestions on a good time of year?
Nikki Wynn
This visit was in late September/early October and it was a great time of year to be at the park because it wasn’t too hot.
Reyanna
Thank you!

On a trip a few years ago we stopped at Zion on a whim. Unfortunately it wasn’t in our schedule so we only got to stay there a day, but even on it’s surface Zion is one of the most beautiful National Parks I’ve ever been to… and I’m from Colorado! Thanks for the video.
Jason Wynn
John,
Zion is EPIC! We are excited to head back to Utah and visit the rest of the National parks later this year before heading to CO for some snowboarding in Breck! Maybe we’ll see you around?

Howdy Wynn’s,
Just now watched your HGTV RV episode. My husband and I are anxious to view your video trips! We’ve also been rving for a year now and loving it! We are headed West and looking forward :). Have a wonderful happy summer!
Nikki Wynn
Thanks for searching us out! If you see we are close, shoot us a line!

Just did a couple of interesting vids for YouTube and Vimeo, you guys might want to check them out. My Channel Name at YT and V….Frederick Fichman or you can click on links at my website.
Love your vids…production values are way way up there. Very professional.
Frederick
Question…what is the name of the RV Park you stayed in at Zion? Tnx.
Jason Wynn
Hey Frederick we are not planners so we were “stuck” camping at the hotel just outside of the gates to Zion, I think it was a Comfort Inn. Basic hookups, affordable rates, and nice neighbors. We stayed there for a few days then the park campground opened up (apparently its booked almost year round!) so we moved in for a few days. Can’t say it was any better inside the park, but it was a shorter walk to the visitors center and bus stop.
Robin
Were you really in Zion at the end of November? We were worried it would be too cold (below freezing) by then. We will hit the road in april!
Jason Wynn
Yes Robin, we were in Zion in November. The weather was absolutely beautiful when we were there, just look at Nikki’s outfits: Jacket in the AM and late PM, very light sweater/t-shirt during hikes, and for sure a wet-suit or dry-suit if you’re planning to hike the narrows. Plus the park was completely dead so it was like our hikes we’re all in the wilderness! What an amazing place. Make sure you check out our Springdale Post, great little town: https://www.gonewiththewynns.com/springdale-utah

Amazing blog. Thanks a million for all the interesting tips and suggestions. I’ve been planning a trip to Zion for a while now; – I think its high time I put those plans into action.
In addition to the interesting material here, I found some other interesting activities that can be done in Zion here.
Jason Wynn
We think back to Zion often with remorse….we didn’t have enough time. If you can take a weeks there is so much to in the park, and just outside the park. If you can take a month….the 4 corners area is amazing with all it’s natural wonders….I just wish there was more time in a day.
Katie
My family have wanted to visit Zion National Park. I’ve been reading your blog. You guys have been to some of the same places me and my family have gone.
mary
I can’t wait to go! Do you have a favorite national park yet? or top 3?
gonewiththewynns
It’s hard to say which is our favorite but we do love the mystical feeling of the Redwoods!
Sid Kaye
Why only 36 hours?
gonewiththewynns
Sid, We had another destination to get to for an event. So we only had a short amount of time to spare. We will go back again!
candy
Thanks for taking me there. Hope to make it in person some day.
gonewiththewynns
A visit to Zion is a must for every American. We saw people from ages 1 to 90 enjoying the park in their own special way.
Chris
I lived in Park City, Utah for 10 years and I’m ashamed to say I’ve never been to Zion. It’s definitely on my list next time around!
gonewiththewynns
Driving through Utah I can honestly say there may not be a more beautiful state for adventures! We will go back to UT and spend more time.

lauren
Nikki you make all the hiking look so easy!! y’all have done so much these past months…you’re my hero!!
gonewiththewynns
Ha Ha, It really was a challenge but, in efforts to keep the video shorter we cut out some of the long and exshausting footage. Maybe we should make an out takes video, then I would just look worn out the whole time.
Hunter
Always wanted to go there and now I have the itch more than ever!
brandon
I can’t believe you got so close to the deer. They always run away from me.
gonewiththewynns
Oh, I wear an invisible cape so they cant see me.
jacob
I bet that water was absolutely freezing! That hike definitely looked worth it after I paused it and saw the amazing scenery. I bet it was even more breath taking in person!
gonewiththewynns
It was awesome! In person some of the walls look metallic, like they are solid gold.
Benjamin
Sick videography, Jason. Really captured one of my fave national parks.
(Can we do something about the host though?) Kidding Nikki!
gonewiththewynns
Dear Mr. Sauce,
Thank you for your kind compliments; I too agree Zion is a special place. As for the host…..please know I’ve tried to take care of her by putting her in the middle of these extreme adventures, on the edge of death…..and she always seems to come out ok! Huh?!?! Oh well, I guess I’m stuck with her, good thing I love her! Ha. Safe travels my friend.
