What makes this camera awesome is the G-Metrix data it captures. Speed, altitude, hang time, heart rate, GPS, pitch, yaw, roll, wind speed, depth…basically when we connect it to our chart plotter or smart watch, we can capture craploads of cool data to prove we did “it”.

Would it be better to just capture all the sensor data to a logger, and then use plugin effects to overlay the data onto any arbitrary video clip, rather than having to only have it on the one dedicated camera? Do the Garmin sensors send the data over NMEA, so one could just tap into that to log the data? I’m asking because I have a friend who works on video software and likes projects like this…

I’ve got one of these and while the video is great (especially having the gmetrix overlays), I’ve now had 3 separate cases fail on me. The little magnet underneath the switch on the right hand side rusts, which then locks the switch in place.
Have you guys had that problem at all?
