Re-Mineralize

We like this addition because we have a reverse osmosis watermaker.  By adding this inline filter to our Acuva, we get the alkaline and antioxidant qualities of spring water. This alkaline antioxidant filter provides abundant active hydrogen. It also increases the reduction of power by increasing pH, making small water clusters, and providing beneficial minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium.

    It has the same 1/4″ quick connect that the original Acuva filter has. Have you had any bad experiences with these quick connect filters?

    Bait and switch? The one you showed and said was 499 is actually $1499! Just saying….

      They have a range of models and unfortunately, our site software won’t allow me to put in a price range but I did update it to 0.00. That way there will be less confusion and you can check the Acuva site for pricing. We installed the $499 version on Jason’s mom’s van and the $1499 version in our boat.

    I really feel for Mary and her (previous) Airstream water issues. I’m so glad you knew all the right solutions for the TASTE issue to help your Mom / MIL! The odd thing is, I have had / have the same issues, but I’m in a house! Our house is on a well. The house came with a water softener, but the water was tasted HORRIBLE! We had a Kinetico system installed, which provided for R/O & UV, but only at the kitchen sink new water tap, and the refrigerator for ice & water. I told the Kinetico folks I wanted this water at the bathroom sinks and showers. They then told me how much over the already over $6k that would be. We’d have to buy individual systems for each bathroom sink, but the showers would be too much. Ugh! So, our teeth brushing water still tastes horrible. When we remodel our bathrooms before downsizing from our already small ranch home, we plan on installing the system you got for Mary to make the bathroom sink water So. Much. Better. Thank you so much for the great info!

    WATER HEATER

    However, what really makes me mad for Mary in her house-priced Airstream RV is the hot water for a shower issue. We, too, have a tankless hot water heater. There has to be enough draw for hot water to come out of the tap. So, unless maybe the dishwasher is running, as we RARELY wash clothes in hot water, the water just to wash our hands is always cold! And, as with Mary’s issue, we have many, many gallons of cold water going down the drain until the water heats up enough for a shower. For us, we have a well. One definitely can run out of water on a well, but Mary’s supply is much more limited. For the price she paid for a brand new RV, all I can think is, what on earth is wrong with those people who designed that water heater system?! There MUST be a way to heat the water before turning on the tap, that allows for not wasting water. I also disliked hearing that for the folks who prefer to wet down, suds up, then rinse, with the water being turned off during sudsing, the water heating process starts all over again. Unreal! I’d be very interested if you find a solution to the shower’s water heating issues.

    CABINET LOCKS

    I’m wondering if you or Mary have come up w/ a solution to the cabinets opening during transit issue? What about magnetic baby locks? They’re normally screwed into a cabinet, but you could test with a double back sticky tape, then use a super serious glue to hold in place permanently.

    TALL / THIN CABINET STABILITY

    For the tall, pull out storage shelf, I’d line it something that could bend to come up the sides of the basket, and maybe install a thin wall on the side that is accessed less frequently. That will keep small things from falling through the shelves, and taller bottles that are prone to tipping over could be strapped up against the thin wall.

    COUCH CUSHION

    For the couch end where that removable pillow falls off, what about installing a more hardcore type of Velcro?

      They are rated for filtering “x” gallons of water. If you follow the link in the post the product info will tell you how many gallons they will filter before you need to replace them. How many gallons you use will depend on how many people you have onboard. Is it just you? Or are you a family of 5? You need to estimate your usage. In general I think having one spare would give you time to reorder IF you are doing something like coastal cruising in the U.S. But if you’re sailing around the world then you would need to take more.
