# The Gateway to Zion, Springdale Utah

For a **small town** with a population of less than 500 Springdale, Utah has lots to offer. We were quite surprised, it seemed every corner we turned there was something different. The town slogan is “**The Gateway to Zion**” and it is, considering the park entrance is less than 1 mile!

**Springdale** is a great spot to go for lunch or dinner outside the park. We had a great dinner experience at Bit and Spur, they were not afraid to experiment with their menu! If you go, try the sweet potato tamales, they hit your sweet and savory buds!

I would suggest spending at least a day in the town itself. There is an active art community and a calendar full of events all year long. One of our favorites was the farmers market. The live music was great and it was the perfect opportunity to get to know the locals. In fact, that is how we got a great dinner recommendation.
