# The Ultimate Explorer Yacht Test

**The final test is here, and Mother Nature decided to show up.**

After weeks of suspiciously calm seas in [Alaska](https://www.gonewiththewynns.com/first-explorer-yacht/) and the first part of [BC](https://www.gonewiththewynns.com/testing-an-explorer-yacht/), we finally got what we came for! Big waves, strong winds, and the answer to our biggest question: are stabilizers on a monohull really better than a catamaran?

This [64-foot trawler](https://www.gonewiththewynns.com/first-explorer-yacht/) has been smooth, quiet, and surprisingly efficient, but comfort means nothing if it can’t take a beating. So, when 30 knots of wind and steep, choppy seas rolled in, we pointed the bow straight into it. What happened next was part science experiment, part thrill ride, and a whole lot of respect.

Between dodging whirlpools, hauling crab pots, and hanging out with whales, this final stretch gave us what we came looking for and more.

So after three videos and eight hundred miles along the coast from Alaska to the San Juans, what's your verdict? Could you and would you be willing to venture into high latitudes on an explorer yacht like this? I think you know our answer by now.
