“They” SAY THIS IS THE WORST SAIL ON A CATAMARAN?
Beating upwind is never anyone’s favorite point sail. It’s called BEATING for a reason and it’s a beating no matter what kind of boat you are on. The critics will tell you catamarans can’t sail upwind. And to some degree (pun intended), depending on the boat, they are correct.
Today we have a 60-nautical-mile sail. It’s upwind the entire way from Fakarava to Tahanea and we’re aboard a 55ft performance catamaran. This the critics will say, makes for an even rougher ride because performance boats are built for speed, not comfort. But again, it all depends on the boat, and there is only one true way to judge any boat. You have to sail it!
So join us as we head out to sea and explore another ring of coral out here in the Tuamotus! And at the end of our beating, we’re rewarded with a dive that has more fish life than we’ve ever seen! 🤯

Great video. I have been following you for awhile now. Started when you were RVing. I am living fulltime in my Rv (7 years now) and have been envious of all your adventures. Thanks for all the inspiration.

What a great experience to sail on your boat’s big sister! Is there time to add or change any of the design based in traveling with Frank and Mary Grace?
I think we need one of those satellites!! 😊

Wow. I had to pinch myself tonight and say, “am I really here, watching this.” “What am I doing right now? Am I looking at and seeing this magnificent craft being expertly operated in these incredible and amazing waters and atolls surrounded by amazing coral reefs, numerous marine life and fish species. with these generous smiling people all around??” “Oh yeah.” I am here on the computer watching this.
I am not even physically there, and I am experiencing this half a world away!! Yes, Ticket to Ride and the HH55 is one amazing, out of this world craft.
Thanks again Mary and Frank Grace.
As it is said in the Beatles Yellow Submarine, full speed ahead Mister Boatswain, full speed ahead. 👍⚓⛵
