Sometimes the best tour guide is the one who was never meant to be one.
For the past seven months our boat has been waylaid in Samal's marina. Over the months we have taken flights in and out, spent endless hours taking care of general maintenance, making small repairs, sending emails, researching, making phone calls, having expert consultations…doing just about everything other than getting to know this little paradise called Island Garden City of Samal.
But this week we stepped off of the boat and out of the marina. No plans. Just curiosity. What followed wasn't a carefully orchestrated tour, but something better. Because true exploration happens not when we follow a map, but when we follow our curiosity.
