First Sea Trial After 2 Years at the Dock!

After two years sitting still, we finally did it, we got this boat off the dock. But not before discovering why boats really don’t like being ignored.

What started as a simple “one last thing” turned into a deep dive. Dead batteries, corrosion mysteries, and the kind of troubleshooting that reminds us that the learning never stops when you own a boat. Add in tight Dutch canals, a new-to-us control system, and our very first time driving this vessel…and yeah, we were a little nervous

This isn’t a glamorous sea trial.  It's a real one.  One where we learned a lot (like how the boat sounds and feels underway) and most importantly, that the boat actually works.

Next up: Our Maiden Voyage!  Canals, the busiest shipping lane in Europe, locks and bridges, and fuel docks - oh my.  Place your bets now folks, who will ding it first?  Or do we make it unscathed? 🎰 😜

As always, thanks for being here, you help make this journey possible.

Our journey is ever-evolving but the mission remains the same: CULTIVATE CURIOSITY

Life on wheels or keels is an ongoing education. We're forever students sharing what we learn along the way. We've done a little of everything from engine maintenance to how to sail, anchor, rebuild a water pump or even rip out and reinstall windows.

Architecture, art, food, wine, philosophy... My European romanticism meets reality as we slowly explore this part of the world.

Sailing is doing maintenance in exotic locations.

Exploring the world like its 1492.
