AMERICANS IN CHINA (not what we expected🤯)

China is not all what we expected and trust me, as a couple of Americans, we certainly had some reservations about trekking through the country without a real plan.  But, then again we never thought we would explore China. Much less an ancient city on the Southern Silk Road where hieroglyphics are still used.  Yet, that is exactly where we find ourselves.

We have seen, experienced and shared a lot with you over the last decade. But the Yunnan Province and the old town of Lijiang completely took us by surprise.  This is officially one of my favorite places in the world.

🙏 WE COULDN’T MAKE THESE VIDS WITHOUT YOU!

Thank you for watching!  Ups, downs, and all around, we share it all. If you like what you see, there are lots of ways you can show your support.

Hello there! I honestly don’t know what to say, so I am going to tell you a bunch of random facts instead. I'm a fish eating vegetarian who hates spiders and loves snakes. I almost never took vacations growing up. I wanted to be Pippi Longstocking (still do). I misspell about every other word I write and still struggle with grammar. I love splurging on a good high tea (which is really hard to find these days). And whatever you do, don’t tell me I can’t do something, because then I'll HAVE to do it!

Loved to see your visit to Lijiang! Mine was much the same but I got one hand carved jade necklace and then after going to the headwaters of Tiger Leaping Gorge earned an overnight at their hospital with mountain sickness! Now a local Chinese hospital is an experience! Can’t wait to see you move onto the boat!

These last two videos in China are AMAZING! The beauty and insight into the culture and the separation between the politics (which we all hear only) and the beauty in the souls of the people….just SO inspiring. I think I will be rewatching these videos again and again….especially this last one. Thank you so much for sharing this incredible journey!! And looking forward to seeing your new boat launched and sailing out from China….with all the wonderful experiences coming with you on that journey!

This video is fantastic. All of your videos are good but this is one of the best in my opinion. Wonderful photography and info on history. Travelling is such a broadening experience and makes one more tolerant of other cultures and ways of life. I have been to China but not this area and it certainly would be a place worth visiting, what a beautiful town and people. Looking forward to your next adventure.

P.S. I tried making a comment on my patreon e-mail but would not let me do so. Don’t know what the problem is.

Thank you again Wynn’s as always.
Great comments above. I identified again and again. You probably don’t remember but I mentioned that I like flowing water and stormy weather. I find flowing water very therapeutic. The sound, the visual, the touch and many other soothing aspects that sometimes don’t get recognized and go unexplained.
Lijiang seems my kind of city being interwoven and surrounded by water. Great travel destination.
I wonder what the cost of living is. Oh well! No biggee. Once again. You’ve hit upon a very cool spot. Joy and Happiness abound!
So cool being able to see and take in these amazing adventures week after week after week. Thank you is my gift for now.

LiJiang is so beautiful, as you said many times. A delight to watch this video. Reminds me of the beauty and wonderful differences that you revealed in Tonga. You’ve also given me an important understanding of how vibrant and loving the Chinese people are – certainly improves my political outlook.

I’ve followed you two since your first episode learning on your cat. Now most of my sailing friends are fans as well as my wife who isn’t a Utuber at all. Your mix of sailing adventure and travel log is perfect (fro my tast) and your Tahiti pandemic videos and now your Lijlang video are beyond entertaining. Educational, picturesque, soulfully fulfilling I can only say thank you and tell you a new patron is in process.

Oh my. I am spellbound and speechless in the most beautiful way. Definitely a bucket list locality to center the soul.

Imagine a world in which we share our culture and the beauty of the land instead of petty fighting for the sake of ego and gain. Seeing what the land can willingly instill in us instead of taking and stripping it until it’s left covered in raw, aching wounds from overuse. Lijiang looks to be a tiny sliver of heaven on earth.. commercialized or not, it has something to offer.

I’ve got a sister who speaks Mandarin, and once I’m settled into our home I need to look into visiting China with her because this video is inspiring. A sister adventure..though we’ll drag along the husbands.. someone has to carry all the tea and purses we’ll buy because acquiring a horse to pack it around town would just be silly. 🤣. Seriously though, what a beautiful piece of the world. Just the memories from visiting would be more than enough of a memento.

Can’t wait for Curiosity to set sail towards more adventures. As always, your videos are inspiring and educational and I can’t wait for more. Keep on keeping on N & J!

It is interesting that the water coming from the glacier is clear. I have been mountain climbing for 50 years and more often than not the water coming off the glacier is cloudy with silt as a result of the movement of the glacier. Not the china I envisioned. I should have expected it China is a massive country. Oh the colors in the city are so bright and cheerfully Love your videos and looking forward to more sailing adventures soon.
