Boat Life Below Freezing

Here's something strange. It's freezing outside, the wind is blowing 30 knots, snow is piling up everywhere, and we're... comfortable?! On a boat?!

For two people who spent the last decade chasing tropical weather in minimal clothing, this is new territory. We half expected to be layered up and miserable. Instead we're debating whether to turn the heat down.

So this week we're bringing you aboard for our first taste of winter boat life. Show you all the details that make the difference (and the one thing we're still struggling with).

P.S.

Thank you for being a part of our journey. 🤗

Life on wheels or keels is an ongoing education. We're forever students sharing what we learn along the way. We've done a little of everything from engine maintenance to how to sail, anchor, rebuild a water pump or even rip out and reinstall windows.

Exploring the world like its 1492.

Architecture, art, food, wine, philosophy... My European romanticism meets reality as we slowly explore this part of the world.

Any grand adventure requires some gear.

Self-reliance is what lets us wander far from easy access, cell service, and well-worn paths. It's not about doing everything alone, it's about having the confidence to figure things out as we go. That's when remoteness stops feeling risky and starts feeling like freedom. A lesson we’ve learned time and again from the people and communities we’ve met along the way.
