We could have filmed a tour six months ago. But it wouldn't have been this tour.
Back then, she was a stranger. A boat we won at auction (still can't quite believe we did that), full of systems we hadn't tested, cabinets we hadn't opened, and quirks we hadn't yet discovered.
Now, she is UNDRA, and there are little pieces of us tucked into the corners. Art from Argentina on the walls. Coffee gear taking over its rightful territory. Tools, camera gear, boat parts, winter layers, swimsuits, spices, fenders...all the little things that make life afloat work.
Including the cabinet Jason has lovingly stocked and dubbed "the Mexican cabinet." Because you can take the Texan out of Texas…
We also got to meet the people who built her. The hands behind every wire and every plank of Scandinavian oak. Hearing their stories changed the way we see her.
Which means it finally feels like the right time for a proper tour.
UNDRA is a 50-foot aluminum yacht. In the world of expedition boats, that makes her compact. A pocket yacht, technically. But step inside and she does a very convincing impression of something much larger.
Of course, she is not perfect. No boat is. Some systems are still waiting for updates. The tender situation is still a puzzle we have not fully solved. And yes, there are a few tight spaces where you really must be flexible and patient.
But that is also the tradeoff that makes UNDRA work for us. She is small enough for the two of us to handle, efficient enough to make sense, rugged enough to go farther than most boats, and comfortable enough to feel like home.
This is not the full deep dive into every system, locker, or future project. That would be a whole series. This is us introducing you to our home.
So, welcome aboard. We're awfully excited to finally have you over.
