Fix One Thing, Break Another

We’ve only been cruising aboard UNDRA for a couple of months, and most of that time we’ve had friends and family aboard. So when we finally found ourselves alone, with nowhere we had to be, it was time to start working through the growing list of little mysteries, maintenance jobs and things that just weren’t working quite right.

Some things went surprisingly well. Others left us scratching our heads...and then Jason decided to update our navigation software.

An update we’ve been extremely hesitant to do because, well...it had never been done. The boat sat for over two years with a sticky note attached to the screen that literally read “DO NOT UPDATE SOFTWARE.”

But the system has been glitchy, there are features we simply haven’t been able to get working, and now we’re approaching three years without an update. So, after talking with both the original installer and Simrad, it was finally time.

Rip off the sticky note. Hit download. Install.

What could possibly go wrong?!

Boat life is all about getting to tackle projects in exotic locations.

Life on wheels or keels is an ongoing education. We're forever students sharing what we learn along the way. We've done a little of everything from engine maintenance to how to sail, anchor, rebuild a water pump or even rip out and reinstall windows.

Any grand adventure requires some gear.
