It’s the first day of the New Year and while there are lots of ways to ring it in and start it off, why not try something different…cold…and of course a little adventurous. I’m sure you’re wondering just how cold it really was.  Well outside was 37 degrees, the water was 47 degrees and while it was FREAKIN FREAZIN, it wasn’t as bad as we thought it was going to be.  After a few minutes in the water, everything exposed (our face and hands) just went numb and you’re happy….for a little while.

Ever thought of diving in the middle of the desert?  How about SCUBA in a lake.....through shipwrecks.....at night?  Let me be the first to tell you it makes for one helluva a night. So, what did you think?  Have you been on any night dives?  Share your stories below and if you have a link to a cool video or pictures, share that too! Night SCUBA Lake Havasu

Acadia National Park just outside of Bar Harbor, Maine is a stunningly beautiful area.  But let’s be frank (and I don’t mean hot dogs), you can only hike so much before your feet are ready to fall off.  So, we made the reasonable decision to give our feet a break and send our adventurous soles for an exploration of Acadia from above! We are always on the hunt for something unique, trilling and sometimes slightly dangerous.  And this was definitely a unique experience!  Our pilots were incredibly friendly and we had some very cool planes to choose from.  I like having options, especially when it comes to my feet leaving the ground!

Who knew spending Thanksgiving with strangers could be such a dynamic experience! Zombie apocalypse group Sure being away from family on holidays is always a little sad…or at least it is for us (I know some would do anything to get away from the in-laws).  The key to having a successful out of town Holiday is all about finding someone to spend it with.  Maybe it’s friends or as in our case, the couple we met at the College Bar last week.  We never turn down an invitation to a party!

It always feels a bit dicey each time I visit a place I have always wanted to see.  I build up all kinds of expectations (even thought I try hard not to).  Now, Tombstone Arizona hasn’t exactly been on the top of my list, but growing up watching old western’s does spark a good bit of curiosity. Jason and Nikki in Tombstone Tombstone was one of the last boomtowns of the west in the 1800’s.  Silver, silver, and more silver produced $40 to $85 million in cold hard cash!  Can you imagine that amount in the 1800’s?  It’s like hittin’ the big one on every state lottery combined!

There is something about taking off for another year of adventure that just feels right. Granted we have only been in Dallas for one month and 10 days of that was spent in Spain, it still feels like we are starting fresh again.  We spent time with our families, let go a little more of our old lives and belongings, spent countless hours in front of computers backing up and preparing for the future.  As we said our goodbyes and headed out of Dallas we almost immediately started feeling that strange adjustment in attitude with a new perspective in view.  It still amazes me how a trip never seems real until the moment it begins.  So here it is, our beginning to year 3 on the road again. Now, if we could have only started a little earlier than 8pm… Yes, we got a late start but it was a start none the less.  We drove through to Snyder, TX and called the Rip Griffin Travel Center home for the night amongst at least a dozen trucks.  There is nothing like the smell of exhaust and the sound of air brakes at a small town truck stop to start the trip off right.  We slept like babies.
